While Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong continues to release new content to keep fans entertained, it appears he has inspired a fan to come up with some new Green Day content of their own. A version of their song ‘Give Me Novacaine’ that was posted to Reddit has gone viral. The song was recreated using sounds from Sega Genesis, and was made in the style of the classic video game ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3.’

Shared by Reddit user DilanGaming, the new version of the song off of 2004’s ‘American Idiot’ was made to sound like a Sega Megadrive soundtrack. “If anyone remembers, I did a Sega Genesis-styled Whatsername a while back. Today I was really in the mood to make another 16-bit rendition of a more underrated track (also off of American Idiot). Here’s Give Me Novacaine, using Genesis instruments. Enjoy!” said the poster.

Green Day fans quickly picked up on the new version, with many commenters asking for 16-bit versions of other classic songs form the band. As for Green Day, Billie joe Armstrong continues to work on new material while quarantined. Maybe he will use this as inspiration and create a 16-bit song of his own.
