Fans Are Calling For George R.R. Martin To be Imprisoned After Not Completing Book

The Author Had Promised Fans Could Imprison Him If He Hadn’t Completed Book By June 29

July 30, 2020

It has been over a year since the last episode of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ aired, but fans are still awaiting the final book in George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series. The author promised fans back in May of 2019, that if he hadn’t finished the final book by June 29, 2020, fans could throw him in prison. That date has come, and still no book, so fans are now calling for Martin’s arrest.

Martin had hoped to be finished with the book by the start of Worldcon in New Zealand, but with the virtual event kicking off this week, he still has yet to release to final book of the series. “If I don’t have THE WINDS OF WINTER in hand when I arrive in New Zealand for worldcon, you have here my formal written permission to imprison me in a small cabin on White Island, overlooking that lake of sulfuric acid, until I’m done,” said Martin at the time.

With no book, fans are hoping Martin sticks to his word, at least to give him more time to work on the final book of the series. ‘Game of Thrones’ may be over, but fans are clearly still looking for any bit of content related to the show they can find.
