Grandmother Breastfeeds Own Granddaughter. Yes, We're Serious.

The Baby's Mom And Grandmother Both Breastfeed Her.

April 3, 2019

I can't make this stuff up, but luckily it's in Missouri, and not Florida where I would expect this story to come from.

Julia Cannons is 21 from St Louis, Missouri, and her mom Angela Owens who's 47, alternate feeding Julia's 10-month-old daughter Naomi. Yes, you read that right. The mother AND grandmother of this child alternate feeding her.

The baby is 10 months old now, and they started doing this (6 months ago) when they found out the grandmother was still lactating after having her youngest child.

Julia said; “I was OK with it. She’s an over-producer. She’s been checked for any problems and had CAT scans done, but there are no health problems.”

I'm trying my absolute hardest not to judge. I really am. But in my personal opinion, if you breastfeed, it's a bonding experience for yourself as a mother, and the baby. There's really not a need to bring someone else in to this whole thing. I get that it's natural, I get that it's a privilege, but I can't get behind this one.

What are your thoughts? Would you be open to this idea if you were in this situation?
