Rowlett Neighborhood Evacuated After Bomb From WW2 Found

April 23, 2018

A residential neighborhood in Rowlett was evacuated and closed down today by local police for over an hour after an undetonated World War II mortar was found.

Apparently the bomb was found by a man in a small North Texas city and took it home.  After being notified, the police blocked off most of the neighborhood and closed the PGBT from I-30 to State Highway 66.  Officials warned people to stay clear of the area until it was safe.

The Garland police bomb squad was then contacted and saw the mortar safely removed.  The mortar was taken to an open field near by and detonated.
